History of NME



NME

NME was created by Theodore Ingham and is a UK weekly pop/rock music journalism publication, published since March 1952. NME started as a music newspaper and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s and 90s. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in 14 November 1952 edition.

The picture below was the "original" logo which was used from 1978 up until 2010 as well as an edition featuring The Smiths with the masthead.

In 2010, NME redesigned again led by art director Joe Frost in a bid to make the title more 'heavy weight' and 'mature'. Underneath you can see the 2010 to 2014 logo as well as the first issue the newer masthead featured on: 



Finally, in October 2013 with a new editor, NME redesigned again in a bid to assert 'authority, credibility and depth of knowledge' this time by art director Mark Neil. The most recent logo and first edition in which it was featured is located below:
